Getting Started With The HAC Financial
Impact Calculator™
The
following instructions are for installing the calculator for the first time on a
computer. For
help
installing calculator updates click
here.
Installation
Download
the calculator installation file. Your
purchase confirmation email contains a link to the download page. Be
sure to
download the correct version for your computer's operating system
(Windows 7 vs. Windows 8 or 10).
Double-click
the (.exe) installation file to launch it. Then
follow the instructions provided in the installation wizard.
When
selecting the folder to install in, choose one located on your PC
rather than on a network drive or a "cloud" storage service. It needs
to be installed on your PC in order for the report generation features
to work properly.
License Activation
Once you have
installed the calculator
you will need to activate it. You will need the license key
provided
in your purchase confirmation email. Also you will need to be connected
to the
Internet.
From the
Windows
Start menu, under the Programs list (or Apps list in Windows 10), find
the entry for
“Value Impact Calculators.” Expand that folder and click on
“HAC Financial Impact Calculator.”
The
calculator will
open in Excel, with only one sheet tab visible. You
should also see a Security
Warning message regarding “active content” or “macros” (see below).
Choose to “Enable Content”
or “Enable Macros.”
(Note: Steps 3-6
below do not apply to the trial version.)
The License
Activation
wizard will then launch.
Click
“Next.”
On the next
screen choose “Activate my
license online” and click “Next."
Enter your
activation
key (found in your confirmation email) and click “Activate.” Once you
get a message that your license is
activated, click “Finish” and the wizard will close.
(Note: If
you cancel out of the License wizard at any point, and want to run it
again later, first close the calculator and then re-open it. The wizard
will re-start.)
At this point
all of the calculator worksheet tabs should be visible, as shown below.
The Guide sheet provides a key to the different colors used
for
different ytpes of cells in the calculator, as well as links to further
online resources.
